Why is your health and fitness important to you?
This question is the most important question you can ask yourself and will help you navigate the roadblocks and detours along the way.
On the days when you want to give up, or it seems impossible your WHY will keep you driven and focused.
By having a Why you will also find building consistency on your journey much easier, and this is where the results come from over time. It could be you want to play with your kids without getting puffed out, pain management, mental health, to lose weight, to get stronger, to make better choices every day.
Your Why is your own and is much stronger when written down and looked at daily, especially on the days when you want to give up.
You want your way to inspire you, and it will change over time which totally normal as you go through life. Mine has changed over the years but the constant has been that I want to be healthier later in life, which means I need to do work for it now.
When I was 17 my WHY was simply to keep fit to meet the Army fitness criteria, which meant that I was running regularly, mountain biking, and practicing my sit-ups and push ups.
At 21 I was no longer in the Army reserves and my WHY was mountain bike racing. This meant that even after long work days I was getting on my bike and riding.
At 24 I competed in Bodybuilding. This is when I really became consistent in my resistance training and made big changes to my nutrition. I have since competed in another 5 competitions :)
At 36 my Why is to be a role model for my kids and to inspire you on your own Health and Fitness Journey.
We will have days when exercise is the last thing we feel like doing, but it is on these days that you find inspiration from your Why and who doesn't feel better for getting it done? Not every workout has to be one for the record books, but being consistent will get you results.
So again, WHY is your health and fitness important to you?
